"I never lived in Cologne, but I often went there as a kid with my dad to visit my grandparents who lived nearby.
Most things that you remember being huge as a child, are surprisingly small when you revisit them as an adult.
Not so the Cathedral in Cologne. It is so huge, that from certain angles it blocks the entire horizon. In contrast the gothic facade is so intricate and multilayered that you get lost trying to figure out the underlying geometric system.
Even on a short layover in Cologne I quickly dash out of the train station and stare at the facade, and now I turned my admiration into a drawing."
